Systems Series: Brain, Noise, and Perception
Technical Specifications
Technique: Digital
Location: Potsdam
Year: 2025
This series focuses on the brain as the organ of perception and the filter of noise. The piece revisits the image of neuronal activity and the sensory overload that occurs when attempting to decode an environment—a process John Cage experienced while listening to his own nervous system in the anechoic chamber.
Through digital manipulation, the brain images are exposed to an aesthetic of glitch and saturation. The vivid color and graphic fragmentation suggest how information overload translates into a distortion of perceived reality, transforming the internal thought process into a vibrant cartography of confusion and listening.
